For Immediate Release:
Suffield, CT, February 9, 2026 — Today, George Austin, Republican candidate for the Connecticut 2nd Congressional District, announced his gratitude for the efforts of Mike France, following Mike’s announcement that he was withdrawing from the race.
“First and foremost, I want to thank Mike France for his service and dedication to our state and our country,” George said. “I welcome guidance and support in moving Connecticut forward to solve the issues facing all Eastern Connecticut residents.”
George is focused on uniting Republicans across Eastern Connecticut’s 64 towns to build a strong, grassroots coalition of all working people who are fed up with the high cost of living in Connecticut and tired of being ignored by our elected officials.
Every day, George is building momentum; connecting with more families, small businesses, and community leaders across the district who are energized by his passion and commitment to speaking the truth, listening and focusing on the issues that matter most. George believes Connecticut’s future is only built by bringing new ideas and energy to Congress.
“Across Eastern Connecticut, people are increasingly frustrated, facing rising costs while career politician Joe Courtney refuses to listen,” Austin said.
George is proud of his success as a dedicated father, small-business owner, coach, and first-generation American, attuned to the challenges facing Connecticut families and small businesses. His decision to run for Congress reflects a core commitment to give voters renewed energy to drive actual solutions, grounded in the empathy he earned by sharing the same struggles as the people he seeks to represent.
As the campaign continues to gain momentum, George’s grassroots coalition welcomes all voters in every community. George is committed to giving everyone a powerful new voice in Washington that reflects their values and fights for their future.
